How to Make the Most of Your Hair Mask

You already know about the upcoming launch of Arganatural hair masks, and you’re probably super excited about it. We know we are! They’re basically the definition of “self-care for hair,” formulated with all-natural ingredients that each bring something beautiful to your strands. They’re super-effective on their own, of course - delivering the soft and smooth strands that were made for summer - but did you know that there were ways to make them work even better on your hair? Just like you refrigerate a sheet mask, a bit of heat can do wonders for your hair mask and the absorption of ingredients. And then there’s the fact that you shouldn’t leave it on for too long, as there is too much of a good thing! See the top hair mask tips below to make the most of your new Arganatural must-haves.

Use a comb

Rubbing a hair product, like our Hydrating Argan Hair Mask, through your strands with your fingers before covering with a shower cap works fine and all… but never underestimate the powers of a comb. While application by hand may cause you to miss sections, evenly spreading the product with a fine-toothed comb from just below the root (more on that later) to tip may deliver even better results. We knew there was a reason that we always carried a “just-in-case” comb in our beauty bag!

Avoid the roots

As we told you earlier, applying your hair masks towards the tips and away from your roots will deliver the best results. The last thing you want to do is make your hair greasier, and since the hair at your scalp is younger and fresher than the tips… it requires less recharging and repairing. Just stay towards the bottom of your strands, and your hair will be good to glow!

Wear (certain) hair masks overnight

We know that the box of your Arganatural hair masks says to only wear them for 10-20 minutes… but for the most part, the longer the better! Since you can leave your hair mask on while you’re painting your nails, doing your homework, or watching your favorite TV show… there’s no reason to rush when rinsing it out. In fact, the majority of hair masks can even be worn overnight! Slap on a showercap to protect your pillows, and wake up with the softest and smoothest hair you’ve ever seen. It’s that simple. The only masks you may want to be careful with are those with super strong formulas, such as those with retinol, but most of Arganatural’s hair masks should be ideal for snoozing in!

Bring the heat

You know how the hairstylist sticks your head under a heat lamp at the salon after completing your highlights? This essentially “melts” the formula into the scalp for faster results, and the same will happen with your hair mask. If you’re in a rush and don’t feel like leaving the mask on all night, simply grab a blowdryer and apply a bit of heat to your head to feel the magic of the mask, that much more quickly. It’s a neat trick for anybody who’s always trying new hair products!

Find the right formula

Not all hair masks are created equal, and using the wrong one for your hair type can bring the frizz, instead of the flawless strands. Ugh. That’s why Arganatural has launched three types to fit nearly all hair types. If your strands tend to be on the dryer side and need a boost of moisture, try Argan. Want the thick, voluminous hair of commercials? Biotin is your best friend. And then there’s Keratin, the versatile ingredient that’s ideal for repairing damaged hair and bringing strength to nearly all strands. Collect your favorites!
