No matter what type of hair you have -  weak, dry, or thinning, there is a leave-in conditioner out there for you!  Although those with dry, brittle hair will find leave-in conditioners particularly helpful in keeping their locks hydrated, leave-in conditioners are suitable for ALL hair types and should, without question, be a part of everyone’s haircare arsenal!

Designed to lock in moisture and keep hair soft, silky, and balanced, a leave-in conditioner is a moisturizing conditioner that, as the name implies, doesn’t need to be rinsed out.

By consistently using a leave-in conditioner after washing your hair, you’ll notice that your hair feels smoother, less damaged, and is healthier overall.

How Do You Use A Leave-In Conditioner?

A leave-in conditioner can be used one of two ways:  on freshly washed hair or on dry hair:

  • On Washed Hair - After washing your hair, apply your leave-in conditioner to towel-dried hair from roots to ends (while avoiding your scalp), comb through, and style hair as usual.

  • On Dry Hair - Spray leave-in conditioner all over dry hair (again, avoiding the scalp).  Then, allow the product to air dry or blow dry the product into hair.  (This is perfect for keeping frizzy, dry hair moisturized between washes.)

Since leave-in conditioner is lighter than regular conditioner you use in the shower, it can be applied all over the hair.  However, for best results, we recommend that you apply it at the tip of your hair and work your way up the hair shaft.  In order to avoid product build up, we recommend that you avoid the scalp.

How Often Do You Use A Leave-In Conditioner?

How often you use a leave-in conditioner really depends on your hair texture and type.  Generally speaking, we recommend that you apply a leave-in conditioner every time you wash your hair.

If your hair is super damaged and dry, it’s recommended that you use a leave-in conditioner daily, even when you don’t wash your hair.  Just spray the product all over dry or freshly-washed hair and allow it to air dry or blow-dry it into your hair.

If your hair is oily, on the other hand, it might be best to use your leave-in conditioner after every other shampoo, that way your hair will get the TLC and moisture it needs without going overboard.

What Is the Best Leave-In Conditioner

The best leave-in conditioner for you will depend on your hair type and concern:

Just as most of us apply a moisturizer after washing our faces or lotion after showering, a leave-in conditioner provides the same kind of moisturizing benefit for our hair. When applied properly, with the right frequency, and the right formulation, a leave-in conditioner can be the best way to banish bad hair days forever!
